About Third Grade

- Across the year they will engage in reading, listening to and discussing more and more complex texts.

- Reading is fun! Students will read both fiction and nonfiction text while also finding the joy of reading books they choose.

- Third graders study diverse cultures and the immigrant experience.

- Students develop a deeper understanding of multiplication and division through equal groups, arrays, area models, and properties of operations.

- Build understanding of fractions, starting with unit fractions (fractions with 1 as the numerator).

- They relate fractions to the real world by representing and comparing fractions using visual models.

- Third graders will do all of this while collaborating with classmates, and utilizing technology. They will develop skills to become a creative innovator who will show what you learn in exciting new ways.

- Students will have fun, work hard and grow in so many ways.
